South Yarra Project

This spectacular home, located in sought after heart of South Yarra, is a wonderful example of Grand Victorian architecture was built in the late 1800’s. 

 

When the owners of this property purchased the house, they knew it was in need of quite substantial renovations. The house needed to be modernised whilst retaining the charm of period architecture.

 

After meeting with Anne Viney, Senior Designer from Period Extensions & Designs, for the initial design brief, the Owners knew they had found the perfect builder to partner with to bring this ‘Grand Old Dame’ back to life.  The owner’s brief was to reinstate the Victorian period features to the original footprint of the home whilst modernising the amenities and enhancing the existing features to suit their lifestyle.

 

The design required us to replicate the Victorian architraves, cornices and mouldings, as well as Victorian period style metal fretwork and columns, tessellated tiling and windows.  With much enthusiasm we sourced the materials to match that of the existing home. The beautiful quality of workmanship is showcased throughout the entire home, as old blends into new.

 

We were also entrusted to add many new features to home such as a lift, a glass roofed pavilion/carport, a steam room in the new ensuite bathroom as well as underfloor heating. The new ensuite and large walk in robe would be the envy of any discerning person. All the modern additions are complemented with high-quality fixtures and fittings as well exceptional craftmanship throughout. 

 

This home now represents style, sophistication, and flare. It certainly will have you saying “WOW” from the moment you step inside.
