The owner’s brief was to incorporate mementos and memories from their extensive travels and also a sense of dramatic into their home. The house was stuck in the 80’s and needed to be brought in to the 21st century, while still keeping the integrity of the era of its origin. It was difficult to live in, the layout did not work, and nothing flowed. It was dark. After an extension to the ground floor and renovations throughout, this home now ticks all the boxes in terms of functionality. There is a clean run from the front door to the open living area at the back, with light that pours in two carefully placed new hall windows and a bank of rear doors and windows spanning the whole rear width of the house.
