Ascot Vale Project

This beautiful original period style home had undergone many renovations in the past.  But none highlighted the character of its original charm and period features to its full potential.

The design brief from the owners to our Design Team was to create a generous and comfortable new space that would allow them to entertain friends and family, incorporating lots of natural light and a modern finish.

Our Design Team set about the task of replacing the previous extensions with a modern addition that would satisfy the owner’s brief whilst also retaining the period features of the home. This design included an open plan kitchen with a meals area and living room space as well as a European laundry and bathroom in the original part of the house.

The polished exposed aggregate concrete floors throughout the extension highlight the modernity of the new living and kitchen space and yet seamlessly connects to the original part of the house with its engineered floorboards.

The bulkhead in the kitchen enhances the modern design of the kitchen and cabinetry, creating its own individual space in the open plan entertaining area. The bulkhead also cleverly conceals the heating and cooling system.

The rear living room wall is constructed of floor to ceiling glass panels with triangular highlights that maximise the amount of natural light in the living space with a fantastic outlook onto the spectacularly landscaped garden. There are multiple openable skylights in the entry to the extension which add to the modern aesthetic and bring in a vast array of natural light.

The Result: A beautiful and light-filled home with a contemporary style extension that is both modern and a perfect entertainer. The owners and the team at Period Extensions & Designs are thrilled with the result.
